With the 2013 launch of Atlas, Rüfüs Du Sol’s debut album not only surged to the top of charts globally but unleashed a novel, transportive sound that uniquely balanced classic electronic foundations with a distinctly futuristic tonality. Since that launch a decade ago, the Australian trio’s success has propelled both electronic music and the industry into an entirely new dimension, while also highlighting the country’s remarkably rich musical legacy.
But over the course of their atmospheric journey, their embrace of both the futuristic and the classic is not only reflected in their ambient tracks but in their style as well. With the group’s current Inhale/Exhale World Tour, frontman Tyrone Lindqvist’s fashion sense has revealed a smooth-n-chic statement and distinctive style progression. Inspired by some of his most notable repeat looks on the tour, Future Ancient, a Los Angeles-based brand with a musical legacy of its own, strikingly echoes the band’s atmospheric, futuristic sound.
“Music has been my greatest inspiration, and Rufus’ music has accompanied me through so many chapters of my life. To be able to tell the story of a group I respect so deeply, through the language of design, is something truly special,” noted Guerrero.

Musical Roots Spanning Borders, the Past and the Future
Music has been deeply embedded within Future Ancient’s DNA from the start. Founder David Guerrero grew up with music at home; his father was a classical guitarist, and rhythm was a constant part of daily life. That influence carries through the label today, which he describes as built on duality, with classical origins reframed through a contemporary lens.
Guerrero, a Texas-born Mexican-Hungarian stylist turned designer, launched the brand in 2020 with an interest in slowing things down. Guerrero has a background that spans classical music, mythology, and theater. These experiences have shaped how he thinks about clothing, not just in terms of aesthetics, but in how a garment holds presence and tells a story.
The Luca pant, for example, Future Ancient’s first piece, is designed to be worn anywhere, explains Guerrero, with a silhouette that moves easily between structure and softness. Hemp, cupro, and organic cotton form the material core, chosen for their feel, longevity, and environmental logic—reflecting a design approach that rejects the churn of seasonal fashion.
“We’ve been proud of the foundation we’ve established. As we expand to meet growing demand, what comes next is a natural evolution—more colors, more forms, all in conversation with our core,” noted Guerrero.
The brand offers three collections for men, women, and everyone, with garments that reflect a consistent design language—loose tailoring, quiet detailing, and a limited palette that leans on monochrome blacks, whites, and creams. The well-tailored silhouettes revisit classical staples but fold in a modern, even whimsical edge. Refreshingly, there’s little emphasis on gaudy branding or fast trends. Instead, the focus centers on proportion, intention, and how the pieces carry themselves.
The clothes are available online at futureancient.com and in Jonny Cota and Ikal, both in Los Angeles and Mexico City.

Further, the clothes have a versatility that makes them feel appropriate and even transportive across a wide range of locations and scenarios— just as fitting for a dinner with friends, a desert journey across the Sahara, at a summer cocktail party, or a rock stage in front of tens of thousands. It is unsurprising that Rüfüs Du Sol were drawn to Future Ancient—each evokes atmosphere over spectacle, timelessness over trend, originality over hype.

The band’s stylist Nico Amarca elaborated that—”Future Ancient was an obvious choice given how the pieces drape and move. The brand offers a striking balance of old world designs with contemporary silhouettes and lush fabrics which thematically align with the overall styling direction we had in mind for the tour. Black has been a consistent color throughout the tour, so we wanted to explore ways of making their looks stand out on stage. We kept the theme dark and enigmatic to enhance the ethereal and futuristic quality of the album as well as the visual narrative.”
Guerrero recently shared a poem which could be naturally layered into a Du Sol track and beautifully captures the pairing with the group and the brand’s musical, ethereal essence: “From memory we rise. To be forged in the unknown. Though we’ll vanish into myth. Our silence returns to tone.”
