Egyptian YouTuber and creator Eyad El Mogy took over the theater at Cairo’s Hilton Grand Nile Hotel last night, bringing his viral pop-culture commentary show El Sabt El Momtaz (The Excellent Saturday) to the live stage for a second time, following his live debut at Theatro Arkan last December.

El Mogy rose to prominence through his DIY-produced show, where he scrolls through Egypt’s TikTok and social media feeds, reacting to viral clips with sharp, satirical commentary. The format later expanded to include guest interviews, with El Mogy reenacting his now-familiar ritual alongside them. His takes have frequently spilled into public feuds within Egypt’s entertainment scene.

Last night’s show stayed true to form, with El Mogy revisiting old feuds, openly antagonizing rising stars, and dividing the scene into “pro-me” and “against-me” camps, while revisiting and rating some of the most-watched episodes from his channel.

The audience included some of Egypt’s most visible Gen Z stars, from rap heavyweight Wegz to actress and multi-hyphenate Amira Adeeb, as well as YouTube couple Khaled Hossam and Sagy. Subway Takes host Kareem Rahma also made an appearance, alongside several cast members from the recent hit TV show Midterm.

Often labeled as “reaction content,” El Mogy has nonetheless become the poster boy of a growing wave of Egyptian pop-culture commentators, alongside Khaled Hossam, Omar Kato, and others. The increasingly popular genre is seen by some as a grassroots answer to the late-night show format, blending monologues, celebrity interviews, sketches, and now, thanks to El Mogy, a live element.
