Saint Levant has just released his third studio album, Afandi, following the release of two viral singles over the past few months: the Haifa Wehbe collaboration “Mitsubishi” and the ‘90s love letter “Sabah El Ward.”
The album spans 12 tracks and includes the long-teased collaboration with Mohammed Assaf, “Maskara.”
Produced by longtime collaborator Souhail Guesmi, also known as Ratchopper, one of Tunisia’s and the region’s most prolific producers of late, and largely co-written by Saint Levant and Jordan’s Idreesi, the album touches on several classic Arab pop schools, from Palestinian and Levantine dabke to turn-of-the-century Lebanese pop and contemporary raï on “Sahran W Nasi.”
In a flash interview with Spotify Arabia, Saint Levant says that the album is a “conversation between the present and the past, showing that authenticity can transcend generations,” adding that he hopes the album sends people back to the “good old times, as if they traveled in time.”
