Tunisian rapper Mouka has released his latest single, “Soumi Ghali,” ahead of his debut album, Loyalty, due out on June 19. The project marks his first full-length release after five years of mostly viral singles that helped position him at the forefront of Tunisian rap’s new wave.
The new track finds Mouka reflecting on the struggles he endured navigating a fiercely competitive rap scene, where his talent and potential were often met with doubt. All of it is wrapped in his signature trap production and lava-like Auto-Tuned vocals – warm, thick, and irresistibly sticky.
Speaking to Rolling Stone MENA, Mouka said that “Soumi Ghali,” which translates to “My Value Is High,” draws inspiration from everyday life: “I really wanted to give people an unfiltered look into my reality and everything I’ve been living through, both the good and the bad. It’s all about knowing your worth, and it really sets the stage for what I’m bringing next on the album.”
He added that Loyalty represents “a completely new level structurally, technically, and creatively,” describing it as an effort to push beyond Tunisian rap’s familiar borders by “blending hard-hitting trap records and sharp flows with cinematic production and distinct North African sounds. Thematically, the project is a raw, authentic statement about youth culture today. It explores the heavy realities of street pressure, paranoia, and survival, balanced against ambition, success, and what it takes to protect your circle.”
